History

The Chemical Engineering department located at Davutpasa Campus since 2000 September under the faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, was first established with its original name "Galatasaray Chemical Engineering Private College" in 1964 at Galatasaray Istiklal Street. In later years the department moved to Sisli Abide-i Hurriyet Campus under the act of nationalization of private colleges and it became a unit of Istanbul State Engineering and Architectural Academy. Under the act of conversion of academies to universities Istanbul State Engineering and Architectural Faculty and various other engineering colleges present in Istanbul were combined under "Yildiz University" established in 1983. Chemical Engineering Department served in the Engineering Faculty of Yildiz University till 1992 when the name of the university was changed to Yildiz Technical University. The Engineering Faculty was divided into four different faculties. The Chemical Engineering Department was placed under the faculty of "Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering" and continued its education at Sisli Campus till 2000 September when it moved to Davutpasa Campus.
