Located in the historical Davutpaşa Campus, the Department of Chemical Engineering continues its education, training and research activities with modern education in an area of 3500 square meters.
The department has a library, computer room, seminar room, undergraduate and graduate classrooms for undergraduate and graduate students. The department has 3 teaching and 7 research laboratories.
In our laboratories, which are equipped with modern devices for the demands and needs of the public and private sectors, studies are carried out within the framework of DPT, TÜBİTAK, YTÜ Research Fund and internationally supported projects. There are 987 students studying in the Department of Chemical Engineering, where undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education is provided. Between 1983-2017, 407 students graduated as graduate engineers and 68 students graduated as doctoral engineers. The department currently employs 26 faculty members, 16 research assistants & specialists (some of whom have PhD degrees) and 6 administrative and technical staff.
Yıldız Technical University is located in three different residential areas in Beşiktaş, Davutpaşa and Ayazağa. Chemical Engineering students benefit from the departmental facilities as well as all common areas in the other residential units.
There is a dormitory building with a capacity of 550 students, 7 dining halls, canteens and cafeterias, a health center with a 24-hour ambulance, 2 indoor sports halls, 2 outdoor sports fields, a sports center with a fitness and aerobics center, a semi-Olympic swimming pool.
A student festival is organized every year in May and our students participate in various activities for a week. During the student festival, various concerts, exhibitions, chess tournaments, cultural events such as panel discussions and conferences, as well as numerous scientific programs are organized. Students study painting, photography, theater, cinema, classical Turkish music, polyphonic choir, light music, modern and folk dances, and benefit from oud, ney and guitar courses.
All university residential units are accessible from the main centers of Istanbul. Shuttles also run between the residential units at certain hours.
Scholarship and counseling opportunities are also available at the university. In accordance with Article 26 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, students are given the opportunity to work as part-time student assistants in various units.
Our students are advised by both professional administrators and teaching staff on many issues such as course selection, accessing scientific resources, scanning resources, mental and physical disorders, and foreign relations.
In the light of all these opportunities, Yıldız Technical University Department of Chemical Engineering continues to work by increasing the quality of education and training.
